Where Connection Begins

Day Zero is the starting point of the Operation Iron Ruck experience. It is a dedicated event focused on connection, education and access to resources for veterans, service members, first responders and their families.

Before the miles are carried, we come together to ensure that those we serve are equipped with the tools, relationships and support systems they need.

PURPOSE

Day Zero exists to:

  • Connect veterans and families to trusted resources and organizations
  • Provide a low-pressure environment to engage, learn and ask questions
  • Foster peer-to-peer connection and community support
  • Create awareness around mental health and suicide prevention

This is where conversations start, barriers come down and trust is built.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Day Zero is designed to be accessible, welcoming and impactful:
  • Veteran Resource Fair
Engage directly with organizations providing services in mental health, career transition, wellness and family support
  • Peer Engagement
Connect with fellow veterans and participants who understand the journey
  • Education & Awareness
Learn about available resources, warning signs and ways to support others
  • Community Connection
Families, supporters and local communities come together in support of those who served

WHY IT MATTERS

Access to resources is critical—but access alone is not enough.

Day Zero bridges the gap between awareness and action by creating an environment where veterans feel comfortable, understood and supported.

For many, this is the first step toward connection—and that connection can change everything.
